In following this blog (which I hope you will do) you'll likely notice one thing rather quickly.....this blog, not unlike myself, is a work in progress!! My life experience thus far is not all that unusual. I married young, had two FABULOUS children and then started over after 17 years of marriage. Five years later I married an incredible man who also had two FABULOUS children and our family is a happy growing one!
I'd like to think that I've been enlightened soul for the majority of my life but that's probably a little ambitious. That said, recently it has become abundantly clear to me (maybe an epiphany, who knows) that life is short, it's precious and it is NOT A DRESS REHEARSAL so I'm going to make the most of every single day.
One particular day I'll never forget was Christmas Eve, 2007. We had been invited to the home of our youngest son and his lovely wife to celebrate and the highlight to that evening was when our "baby" announced that they would be welcoming a baby in the coming year. WOW, I couldn't have asked for any better gift, a true blessing for each of us. As soon as I managed to process that thought, my next one was almost paralyzing.....how can I possibly be old enough to be a grandparent? Sure, I have two incredible young grandsons courtesy of my stepson and lovely daughter-in-law but that just means that my husband is old enough to be a grandparent and I happen to be lucky enough to be able to share that ride. Everyone knows there's nothing better than a loving, doting grandparent. But again, how can it be that I'm now going to be the white haired, rocking chair sitting grandma?
Following the birth of our third grandson, it was obvious that there was nothing that would stand in the way of my being the best grandparent I could to this perfect little blessing. So, remembering my earlier epiphany..... you know, making the most and best of every single day and opportunity life presents, I've decided to re-invent the typical "grandma" image! As my daughter-in-law says, "Come along", join me on this journey and let's show the world that today's grandma is really a GLAMMY GRAMMY! Let's talk again soon.
Ciao, Glammy Grammy
